Top 5 Board Game Podcasts of 2020

Whilst on the whole 2020 has been a trash-heap year, it has been a good one for podcasts. With more time spent indoors, I’ve been delving into more board game podcasts to keep me company. These have been my favourite of the bunch.

Two Can Play That Game

A relevantly recent newcomer to the podcast scene, Two Can Play That Game released their first episode in November 2020. The premise is simple: Pete and Andrew review two-player games. It is their panache and wit that makes this podcast such a great listen.

This Game is Broken

Listening to this podcast feels like hanging out with friends. Hosts Matthew, Dave, Paula, Nick, and Mike have great chemistry. Along with game insights, there is plenty of silliness. Be warned: you’ll probably laugh out loud when listening.

The Dice Tower

This stalwart podcast (on its 688th episode at the time of writing) gets a spot on the list thanks to the team’s incredible depth and breadth of knowledge. We especially love the bi-weekly top ten list episodes, which always add games to our ever-growing wish list.

Board Games with My Wife

Ok, so I’ve included the Birdwood Games podcast. But I do - cross my heart - think it’s a cracker. In each episode, Jack and Lottie discuss their favourite games based around a theme from co-ops to roll-and-writes. There is much silliness. And also often a snoring spaniel.
